The three-point tractor hitch (TPA) is undoubtedly one of the most revolutionary technologies in modern agriculture. Invented and patented by Harry Ferguson in the 1920s, it literally revolutionized agriculture. The three-point hitch consists of two lower arms and a central link. These elements are connected to hydraulic cylinders that enable the entire system to move vertically, allowing even very heavy agricultural machinery to be lifted. Thanks to this invention, attaching machines to a farm tractor has become much easier. The three-point suspension system allows different types of agricultural machinery to be attached to a single vehicle alternately. Following this step, agricultural tractor designers decided to extend the use of the three-point suspension system by also placing it at the front of the tractor. This idea made it possible to attach, for example, a weight to the front of the tractor to increase the load on the front axle, while a machine was attached to the rear, which the tractor would not be able to lift without the front weight. Over time, cultivation machines began to be produced for the front three-point hitch of the tractor in order to optimize work. In this way, we can perform two cultivation operations in a single pass across the field, reducing fuel consumption and, above all, saving a lot of time.
TPA machines
TPA machines is a general term for machines designed to be attached to a tractor’s three-point suspension system. Such a machine should be equipped with a so-called “hitch tower,” which consists of two lower arm hitches and an upper hitch for a central connector. Machines equipped with such a hitch system will be compatible with virtually all tractors available on the market.
Disc harrow for front three-point linkage AGROLAND TITANUM LIGHT FRONT
The AGROLAND TITANUM LIGHT FRONT disc harrow for front suspension is a machine designed to optimize working time. Equipped with Ø 560 mm toothed discs and maintenance-free hubs, it is ideal for shallow post-harvest cultivation. Its compact design means that even a tractor with lower power and lower front suspension lifting capacity can handle it. Two support wheels located at the front of the machine, adjusted mechanically or hydraulically, are used to set the working depth. This allows us to precisely set the working depth of the machine. The machine is manufactured in two working widths: 2.5 and 3 m, which allows you to choose the working width for the tractor you have at your disposal.
Stubble cultivator for front linkage AGROLAND RAPTOR FRONT
The AGROLAND RAPTOR FRONT stubble cultivator for the front linkage system is a machine designed for stubble cultivation. As standard, the implement is equipped with shear-bolt (pin) protection for the tines. Optionally, the machine can be fitted with NON STOP spring protection (RAPTOR FRONT PLUS). The working depth, similar to a disc harrow, is adjusted using two support wheels located at the front of the machine, which can be adjusted mechanically or hydraulically. The tines of the RAPTOR FRONT stubble cultivator are equipped with side shares, thanks to which the entire cultivated field surface is thoroughly undercut. The machine is produced in three working widths: 3 m, 3.5 m, and 4.8 m.
Compaction roller for front three-point linkage AGROLAND FRONTPLANNER CAMPBELL
The compaction roller for front suspension AGROLAND FRONTPLANNER CAMPBELL is a machine designed mainly for pre-sowing soil cultivation. It is equipped with heavy CAMPBELL cast iron rings, which, thanks to their weight compact, even heavy, clayey soil very well. Soil preparation and sowing using the roller is usually performed in a single pass. The FRONTPLANNER CAMPBELL compacting roller is designed to compact the soil in front of the tractor. Optionally, the machine can be equipped with a CROSSBOARD harrow or 2 rows of spring tines at the front of the machine, which act as a small cultivator, leveling and loosening the soil. The hitch tower is equipped with a swing-type tractor tracking system. This means that when driving around a bend during sowing, the machine also turns with the tractor, thus eliminating the risk of damage to the working parts and the machine frame structure.
AGROLAND FRONT PWN mulcher (double knife roller)
The AGROLAND FRONT PWN mulcher is a machine designed for destroying above-ground plant parts. Thanks to its design, the machine is excellent at destroying catch crops, tall stubble, and corn stalks. We have already described the precise application of the PWN mulcher several times in the articles “management of corn harvest residues” and “crop residue disposal.” The AGROLAND PWN mulcher also mixes the cut mass very shallowly with the soil, which significantly accelerates decomposition, the release of nutrients, and the formation of a humus layer in the soil.
Undoubtedly, the three-point suspension system in agricultural tractors has revolutionized agriculture. Attaching machines suspended on the three-point hitch is very simple and intuitive. Suspended machines are also much more compact, which allows for easy transport from field to field. The use of both rear and front three-point suspension systems significantly optimizes working time and reduces fuel consumption.
